The following two books were prepared for the purpose of teaching the Gitxsan language in the schools of Kispiox. These books focus on the Geenix dialect (Eastern/Up-River). Both lessons were prepared by J. V. Powell (UBC) and Russell Stevens (of Ansbayaxw) in 1977. This curriculum uses the writing system employed by Rigsby and Hindle.
This series of books was written with the intention that the lessons and activities will encourage children to expand their use of oral Gitxsan. It was prepared by/for Kispiox with the assistance of J. Powell & Russell Stevens.
This series of books was organized and administered by the Kitwancool Band with support from Gitsegukla and Gitwangak. Again, J. Powell & Russell Stevens significantly contributed to the creation of these resources.
This set of books is created for youth in Grades 4-6, although is suitable for beginner language learners. Book 1 focuses on pronunciation, vocabulary, and basic grammar. Book 2 focuses on verbs. Book 3 focuses on adjectives and feast language. Book 4 presents sentence patterns for talking about where things are and where one is going.
This parent pocket book was created by Wilp Si Wilaksinsxw Simgiget, the elementary school located in Gitwangak. It is in the Gigeets Dialect. This PDF document is designed to be printed in the "Booklet" printer setting.
These Study Cards and Flash Cards were created by Gordon Jack. These flashcards are mostly verbs designed to get your vocabulary up. They were reformatted by myself, and can be printed double-sided to create flashcards.
